Key Information

NFER Assessments

On this page you will find information about Year 3 – Year 5 assessments.

What is NFER?

At Stafford Junior School we complete three assessment periods during the Summer, Spring and Autumn. These assessments are solely to support teachers to correctly pitch their lessons and support pupils in their class. All that we ever ask is for each pupil to try their best.

Stafford Junior School complete NFER Assessments with all pupils in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 at the end of the Autumn, Spring and Summer. These tests are administered in classes and teachers and teaching assistants will complete the tests with pupils during the school day.

How Do we use the data?

These assessments are used to enable teachers to confidently monitor attainment and pupil progress with alignment to national curriculum tests whilst offering an age-appropriate level of challenge. The assessments are used alongside our teacher evaluation – teachers look at the data to help them plan teaching, as well as to map progress and set targets for individual pupils and groups through identifying areas of strength and areas to develop.

How can you support your child at home?
